In order of appearance.
Originally from Mainz, Germany, Ilka spent close to 20 years living and working in the United States. She earned her Diploma in Clinical Psychology in 1997 in Germany, and finished her psychoanalytical training in El Paso, Texas (1998-2003). Having been married to a military service member for over 20 years afforded her the opportunity to work in various military departments and in private practice, primarily with active duty service members and their families. Ilka completed training in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy in 2007, and is certified at the advanced level of EAGALA. Over the past 11 years, Ilka has continued to expand on the EAGALA model and combined it with current psychotherapeutic and trauma approaches to work with military service members and people suffering from childhood trauma and other (combat related) traumatic experiences. Ilka returned to Germany in 2011 and established psychoanalytically based Equine Assisted Psychotraumatherapy (PEATT) . She is an avid advocate on equine welfare in equine-assisted modalities as well as trauma-informed treatment. She has self-published numerous books about her work and perspectives on EAP and offers trainings worldwide on PEATT. http://mindsnmotion.net
